Job Description:  Automation Engineer

Client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Automation Engineer to work with an agile team.
The Automation Engineer is responsible for analyzing business requirements and delivering automated solutions and working with the Technology Infrastructure Services team to build robust platforms using automation.

An ideal candidate should have excellent technical credentials, excellent communication skills and experience in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Java, PowerShell and YAML.

As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Contributing to identifying, developing and implementing technical best practices guidelines
• Working closely with customers, and leading technical and business value discussions
• Advising customers in the deployment of solutions that meets their technical, business and compliance needs
• Proactively identify trends, perform root cause analysis, problem isolation, and manage adverse events from identification to resolution
• Interface with customers, vendors, and other technical staff to analyze business and technical requirements relating to automation
• Participate in all phases of system development, configuration, architecture and monitoring including performance and availability, alerting, security and capacity planning
• Enhance automated deployments using configuration management technologies and scripting languages
• Lead efforts in infrastructure automation and continuous deployment utilizing a CI/CD pipeline in a private virtualized environment
• Maintain software development disciplines including version control using Azure DevOps/GitHub
• Work across IT functions and collaborate effectively to deliver complete technical solutions
• Work closely with software developers to perform all levels of testing, as well as be an integral part of solving complex system level challenges
• Evaluate and understand complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications and platforms.Provide highly analytical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives.
• Follow and promote use of development standards and procedures.

Key Requirements:
• 7+ years' experience in working with customers in identifying their business and technical requirements, and designing and/or implementing optimal technical solutions for them
• Understanding of container tools within the CI/CD pipeline (GitLab, Azure DevOps, JFrog, etc.)
• Experience with automation and creating Ansible playbooks a must
• Strong scripting skills and experience designing and writing automation using languages such as Python, Perl, Java and PowerShell
• Understanding of operating systems, application security configurations, and best practices in Windows and Linux/UNIX environment is required
• Working experience with JIRA and ServiceNow
• Ability to analyze business requirements and technical design documents
• Knowledge of Agile and iterative development methodologies
• Strong problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Detail-oriented
• Experience recommending and implementing systems solutions
• Experience with API design and best practices
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously
• Ability to multitask for various components of complex projects

Additional Requirements:
• Proven track record of thought leadership in a consulting role
• Knowledge of Red Hat Linux and Windows Operating Systems
• Knowledge of VMware technology
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers
• Effective presentation skills
• Technical writing/documentation skills
• Experience working within complex technical environments
• Willing to take on new challenges and eager to learn
• Exceptional customer support
• Follow all Technology processes (Change Management, Problem Management, etc.)
• Experience building services on on-line infrastructure like AWS, Azure, GCP a plus
• Understanding of cloud technologies, such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software-defined networks (SDN), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), OpenStack, and other emerging technologies a plus
• Knowledge of tools within the CI/CD pipeline such as Aqua and Dynatrace a plus

Basic Function:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for analyzing business requirements and delivering automated solutions and working with the Technology Infrastructure Services team to build robust platforms using automation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of college and 7-10 years of scripting experience.
